Meet Marie, the founder
So, who the heck is this Marie anyway?! Well, I'm glad you asked girlfriend!
I'm a Frenchie, born and raised in Paris and I currently live in Tel Aviv, Israel with my hubby Solal (who's French too)! If you ever wondered what a French girl trying to speak correct English sounds like, check my Instagram stories, you're in for a treat! ???? We've lived in Sydney for the past 5 years, minus a 10-month relocation to Montreal, Canada and we've moved to Tel Aviv in February 2018 after a 10-month trip throughout Europe. So basically, our suitcase hasn't got time to get dusty!
The Story behind Not Enough Cinnamon
I started this website just before moving to Australia and it was the starting point of my journey and transformation. At the time I was chubby – or at least I considered myself to be. I had body-image issues and had struggled with it pretty much all my life. A few years of college and less than ideal habits didn't help improve the situation. I just hated the way I looked and didn’t feel comfortable in my own skin at all.
I didn't know much about nutrition either, besides the fact that veggies are good for you and over-processed food is not. In practice, I didn’t know what to eat and what to avoid. At some point, back when I was still in college, I started going to the gym, but didn’t see results and felt simply discouraged. I had never been the sporty type anyway (or that's what I kept telling myself anyway!). All in all, I just had no idea what to do to change, both mentally and physically; and felt so confused!
Baby-steps after baby-steps, thanks in part to my interest in cooking and my blog, and a desire to change, I learnt how to listen to my body and understand what it needs. I discovered I am actually a fitness fanatic, and that I can push my mind and body further than I ever thought I could be capable of.
Today, at 28, I still consider myself a work-in-progress (and probably always will!), I have ups and downs and I definitely don’t feel confident all the time. But I finally feel good about myself. I’m happy. I know what I’m doing and I’m in control. I feel strong both physically and mentally.
I want share what I've learnt and still learn through my on-going journey. I want to use NEC as a place to empower young women like myself, guiding them through their own journey toward better health and confidence, showing them how they can build the best version of themselves.
