Recipe Notes
Tips and variations:
Want to make this extra filling and hearty? Add in ¼ cup rolled oats. Do not use steel cut oats as they will not blend well.
Carrot Cake Popsicles, anyone? Just pour the smoothie in popsicle molds and freeze.
If you don't have a sliced frozen banana on hand you can still make this smoothie with a "fresh" banana, but it won't be as creamy.
Want to turn this into a carrot cake protein shake? Add 1 or 2 scoops of your favorite protein powder – whey, plant-based, collagen-based... Just make sure it's either flavor-free or vanilla flavored.
Make it dairy-free: Skip the Greek yogurt. I tested this smoothie without yogurt, too. It works but it’s less creamy and I prefer to yogurt version.
A great way to bulk this up without piling on the calories would be adding in a cup of frozen cauliflower. It will also thicken your smoothie beautifully and get extra veggies in and you won’t even be able to taste it!
Add a bit more liquid if your smoothie is way too thick or won’t fully blend. High powered blenders should blend this one without difficulties but if you have a regular or personal-size blender, you may need to add a splash more milk.
Not sweet enough for your sweet tooth? Add ½ tablespoon of honey or maple syrup.
