Before we talk about this Pumpkin Pie version of a classic Slow Cooker Applesauce, I need to break some news with you!
It's been on my wishlist for months and it finally made it to my kitchen: I'm the proud owner of a slow-cooker! Ok, it's not exactly fresh news as I've had it for about a month now, but I never mentioned how great it is.
I totally get the slow-cooker craze now that I own one! It is so convenient to just throw the ingredients into the pot in the morning and come home at night to a delicious smell and a hot meal ready to be devoured!
The other day I had a few apples sitting on my counter and I was craving something sweet, yet light and healthy. Like a good old slow cooked applesauce with lots of cinnamon. Because, hey you know there's never enough cinnamon in my life!
I knew I wanted homemade applesauce and I also wanted to make my applesauce in the slow cooker, but I wanted to add a seasonal twist to the classic applesauce.
I settled for a fall-inspired Pumpkin Applesauce made in the slow cooker. Basically a simple applesauce recipe with added pumpkin and warming pumpkin pie spice.
While this Slow Cooker Applesauce bubbled away in the slow cooker, our apartment started to smell amazing - of apples, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves! This Slow Cooker Applesauce with Pumpkin Pie Spice is what fall coziness is all about!

Instructions

Do you think this would work with canned pumpkin? Maybe just put it in the slow cooker the last hour while the apples are cooking?
marie
Sure! I think you could even add it at the beginning.

Is the lemon a necessity or can it be skipped??
marie
You can skip it! It just adds some depth

I'm trying out this recipe today and so excited! I'm confused about the lemon though. Do I add the whole lemon or just the juice? Thanks, can't wait to try this!
marie
Hi Tracy! I just sent you an email but in case you see this first: you need to add the juice of one lemon, not the whole lemon. I hope you'll like this recipe! 🙂

Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING, please! I would love this as a topping for my morning yogurt. I guess you can also use it for making applesauce muffins!
