An easy sheet pan nachos recipe, made with ground turkey and baked tortillas for fewer calories and more pleasure. Perfect for game day! Naturally gluten-free.
Apparently, the football season has started in the US and so every weekend I see football-related stories popping up on Instagram and elsewhere.
In my world, most of it is somehow related to food. Now, I never watch US football (soccer either, for that matter) โ someone tried to explain me the rules once when we were at an Eagles' game in Philly and I got lost instantly โ butย football food?
THAT, I can totally get behind and fully understand.
If one day we end up living in the States, you can be sure I'll be organizing football parties all the time even though I'll probably never glance at the screen!
These easy Sheet Pan Nachos with Ground Turkey are the perfect "healthier" Game Day snack!
And you can bet I'll be serving these sheet pan nachos with ground turkey on repeat!
They're an easy, crowd-pleasing snack to put together, which is key when you're having people over.
Unlike a lot of football food, they won't leave you feeling like you've gained a hundred pounds in a single bite (unlike these mozzarella sticks I ate like a thousand of at that tailgateย ????).
Because we're using baked corn chips, instead of fried, turkey instead of beef, and a reasonable amount of cheese, they're much lower in fat and thus in calories than other sheet pan nachos recipes out there.
There's no compromise on the flavors though! These turkey nachos are just so good!
So much so that I initially thought this would make enough nachos for 6, but realistically lowered it to 4 people so I could have more. Enjoy!
p.s.: Go Birds!

Skinny Sheet Pan Turkey Nachos {Gluten Free}
An easy sheet pan nachos recipe, made with ground turkey, lots of tomatoes, cilantro, and baked tortillas for fewer calories and more pleasure. An easy, crowd-pleasing snack for game day! Naturally gluten-free.
Ingredients
Meat sauce:
- 2 tsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 small garlic cloves minced
- ½ onion white or yellow, chopped
- ½ lb ground turkey 250 g, you can also use extra lean ground beef or chicken
- ⅛ tsp chili powder
- ¼ tsp cumin
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika
- ¼ tsp coriander
- 1.5 tbsp tomato paste
- ¾ cup chicken broth
- sea salt to taste
Nachos:
- 2 cups baked corn tortilla chips homemade or store bought
- 1 cup reduced fat shredded cheese divided
Toppings:
- 1 cup cherry tomato quartered โ or Roma tomatoes, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp red onion
- ½ lime
- ½ cup packed cilantro leaves
- 1 jalapeno sliced
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400F/200C. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
-
Prepare the meat. Heat olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. When hot, add garlic and onion and cook until onion is translucent and garlic fragrant about 2 minutes.
-
Add turkey, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, coriander and season lightly with salt. Cook just until no longer pink on the outside, but not fully cooked, breaking down the meat with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
-
Add tomato paste and chicken broth. Stir and cook until liquid reduces and meat is cooked through about 2 to 3 minutes. Remove from the heat, set aside and cover with a lid to keep warm.
-
Arrange tortilla chips in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet. Layer meat and cheese, so they melt together (one layer of meat, then one layer of cheese and repeat finishing with the cheese)
-
Bake for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted.
-
Remove from the oven and top with cherry tomato, red onion, cilantro leaves, and sliced jalapeno. Season with sea salt and pepper to taste, drizzle with lime juice and serve immediately.

These look delicious and a perfect appetizer for our potluck next week with friends to celebrate our birthdays. Love that it's Gluten Free as one of my friends will be excited she can eat it!

Cheese is my biggest "problem food". So I love that you cut back on it. I know nachos with lots of cheese look good, but I find that I don't need all that.
Marie
I'm a big cheese lover but can't eat too much of it. I promise you won't miss the cheese with these nachos, they're still extra delicious!

This is great using mozzarella cheese which has less calories. In our house in Australia itโs the favourite rugby food. I also put a dollop of Greek yogurt flavoured with lime juice. Yum! Thank you Marie
Marie
Oh hey Rob, I lived in Australia for 5 years <3 Great idea to use Greek yogurt + lime, love this!
