The combination of warming cinnamon and caramelly coconut sugar turns these baked sweet potato fries into a festive side dish perfect for the holidays (and frankly, anytime of the year!)
Baked sweet potato fries are LIFE, my friends! I make them at least once a week, have been for years and I'm not even close to being tired of them at.all.
Normally, I season my baked sweet potato fries with a ton of sweet paprika, some olive oil, and sea salt, but today for you my lovelies, I'm switching up things a bit.
We're getting close to Thanksgiving and Christmas and these baked sweet potato fries are just the recipe to put you into the right holiday mood!
Cinnamon and Coconut Sugar take these Baked Sweet Potato Fries to the next level!
Because it's the holiday season (can't believe Christmas is only one month away ????), I wanted to add a little bit of cinnamon and sugar.
Because it is well known that anything cinnamon baking in the oven makes your house smells so amazing and comforting, just like the holidays.
Plus the (coconut) sugar gives these baked sweet potato fries a nice caramelized crispy texture that is to die for.
You'll see that in the recipe, it says that it serves 2 people, but the truth is, it could just as well be just you. They can totally be eaten as a main. Well, at least I did.
But if you feel like sharing, then they make a lovely side dish for two people.
Should you need more baked sweet potato fries, no problem, just double the recipe and stack two baking sheets in your oven. Just remember to never let the sweet potatoes touch if you want a perfect texture!
Enjoy! 🙂

Holiday Cinnamon Coconut Sugar Baked Sweet Potato Fries
The combination of warming cinnamon and caramelly coconut sugar turns these baked sweet potato fries into a festive side dish perfect for the holidays!
Ingredients
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon coconut sugar or brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- olive oil cooking spray
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 400F / 200C. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper. Spray with olive oil and set aside.
-
Cut the sweet potatoes into French fries (matchsticks). See this video for help on how to cut them.
-
Place the sweet potatoes in a large bowl. Add olive oil, coconut sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Toss thoroughly until all the pieces are coated.
-
Arrange the sweet potatoes in one even layer, making sure they don't touch. This is important to make sure they have the right texture: you want them to roast and be crunchy on the outside, and not steam (they would remain soft).
-
Bake for 15 minutes, then flip the fries and continue baking for another 15-20 minutes or until the fries are fully cooked, crispy outside and tender inside. Keep an eye on them from the 15 minutes mark because all ovens are different and some will cook them quicker than others.
-
If the potatoes start to burn but are not done yet, reduce the oven temperature a bit.
-
Serve immediately with your favorite condiment and adjust salt if needed.
