A rich and silky healthy chocolate mousse made with a "secret" ingredient – avocado. Super easy to make and perfect for Valentine's Day or date night! Vegan + refined sugar free. See the video below!
If you could see the mess currently going on at my Mom’s place where I’m packing my (French) things, I think you would either cringe or laugh, depending on who you are. I can barely step into my bedroom because the floor is covered with huge bags and things I’m sorting to decide if I’m taking them with me to Tel Aviv or not.
We’re now leaving in just two short days - on Monday 12 - and I’m in serious packing mode. If you’ve followed our adventures (catch up here!), you know that we’ve lived in Canada for a little less than a year – and all our furniture and some of our stuff stayed there in storage while we went back to Australia with a few suitcases. We shipped our Canadian stuff via cargo at the beginning of January and it’s now waiting for us in the port of Ashdod. So right now, I’m packing all the things that moved with us in Australia and Canada + the things we left in Paris at our parents to fly with us on Monday. We’ve basically been scattering our things all over the world in the last years and now I’m trying to bring them back together again!
But anyways, even in the midst of this big crazy international move, I had to take a moment and share this wonderful healthy avocado mousse because it’s seriously the cutest and super tasty. Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and if you want to treat your Valentine (aka yourself?) to a dessert that feels rich and intense but is actually secretly good for you, look no further ????
I know a chocolate mousse made with avocado can totally sound weird to some of you. I get it. First time I heard about it i was like “eww this can’t be good” but I’m a food daredevil and everyone kept saying it’s actually really tasty so I gave it a try anyway. And I’m glad I did! Does it taste like French super rich crazy chocolate mousse? No. But it does have a great creamy + silky texture, the chocolate taste shines through and you can barely tell there’s avocado in here. Maybe if you hate it you’ll taste instantly but otherwise, it’s really mild and I actually like the slight hint of it.
One of my favorite thing about this mousse is that it's super easy to make. You just need to blend all the ingredients in your food processor, spoon into cute little containers and you’re done! You can eat it straight away or let it sit overnight. I like to top it with berries for me and whipped cream for the hubby! Enjoy 🙂

Ingredients
- 4 oz - 120 g dark or semisweet chocolate, roughly chopped you can also use dark chocolate chips
- 2 large ripe avocados (about 8 oz - 225 g each), halved and pitted.
- 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- ¼ cup almond milk or your favorite milk
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract

This is completely deliciously tangy and sweet. Oh! I love dessert but I haven't tried a combination of chocolate and avocado, really it sounds weird. Anyway, I love to try this at home. Looking forward to more of this.

I made this today and it was devine! I did add a bit more chocolate to our taste and I did not need the maple syrup as it was dark and chocolaty and sweet enough! I also discovered it can be used as chocolate icing if you omit the almond milk! Great recipe thanks Marie!
